Serving in the armed forces give you special privileges, including discounts on various products and services.  Of all the things currently active, non-active, and retired servicemen get is military discount airline tickets.

By searching other military travel options you may find many more companies that offer cheap or discounted tickets for those in the armed forces.  There are many places that have searches geared to this option to make finding a flight much easier when looking for something with a military discount.  You can spend less time looking for a discount and more time looking for a flight.  Get a good flight and go home for those few extra days and spend some time with the kids.
